Atmospheric literally and metaphorically – this photo of Cherokee Marsh, the wetland north of Madison, is my contribution to this week’s Word a Week Challenge.

Word of Warning: For those who are unusually squeamish the third photo in my contribution to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Threes might be a little much.
I have been spending time with the bald eagles that are wintering along the Wisconsin River near Prairie du Sac. The bald eagles’ days encompass a variety of cycles. One of these is the feeding cycle — hunting, catching and eating enough to keep them alive. The eagles’ prey is generally fish. The three shots that follow show a bald eagle as it captures a fish from the Wisconsin River, brings the fish back to a safe place in a tree along the river and eats it.

This week’s Ese’ s Weekly Shoot& Quote Challenge – Empty was a tough one for me. I hope you enjoy my submission.

We have a Magnolia tree in our backyard. I know nothing about them except that I treasure the grace and elegance of the flowers it produces.
The Magnolia isn’t like the bold crocus or the slightly more timid tulip which are signals that the back of winter has been broken in this part of Wisconsin. The Magnolia arrives on nature’s stage only after the opening acts have performed. When it does there is almost a whoosh as our tree fills with blossoms. While there is a lot to treasure about the permanence of a special object, the promise of the annual return of this sultry beauty is my entry for the Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure.

This old Chevy wagon was in a field in Petersburg, North Dakota. It must have pulled off the road years before we came across it after we had pulled off of Hwy 2 so I could photograph the hoarfrost that coated the trees in town. While I never thought of this as a photo of the back of things, when I saw Cee’s Black & White Challenge: Back of Things this photo was a natural, albeit with a little help from Tiffen’s Dfx filters.
