Cee's Which Way Challenge - January 20, 2013 - 12

I took this photo as we drove between Minot, North Dakota and Grand Forks, North Dakota on Highway 2. The snow was blowing across the highway in what is fairly typical for a Great Plains winter day.

Oh that looks cold. Although it is a great which way!!! I adore it!

I truly was miserably cold. That wind has nothing to stop it or slow it down much for many long miles. I often wonder how the first settlers survived. They had nothing even remotely close to our cold weather clothing and their shelter provided only minimal protection from the elements, especially vis-à-vis what we have today. I don’t know if they were heartier or the situations that made them emigrate were so desperate that the price was worth paying. As I understand it, at least sometimes people were sold a bill of goods and ended up getting land and booking train passage with the promise that they were moving to paradise on earth or the like. Now that would have been quite a surprise!
