A Word A Week Challenge - Action III was on the Wisconsin River just down from the famous “Shack” owned by Aldo Leopold (author of A Sand County Almanac). It was later in the fall and I was photographing a congregations of Sandhill Cranes that occurs each year before the cranes begin their journey to Florida. During a congregation (think gathering) many thousands of birds can assemble at what is essentially a staging area, There is a lot of competition for prime real estate but this image is simply a photo of three cranes landing while others look on – still plenty of action for the Word A Week Challenge.
